Service Advisers work with customers to schedule services and handle administrative aspects of customer service departments. A Service Advisers main responsibility is to interpret customer concerns and comments and liaise with technicians so that they can diagnose and repair problems correctly. The Adviser then interprets the actual repair problem, which may be very complicated, into language that the customer can understand.

Technological advances are changing the very nature of vehicles. It is important that both technicians and customers stay informed about service needs and maintenance schedules for individual models. The person depended on to support this is the Service Adviser.

In an increasingly competitive environment, providing superior customer service is the name of the game, and Service Advisers are playing an increasingly important role in the automotive repair industry.

Service Adviser job duties include:

  • Greeting customers and scheduling service appointments
  • Interpreting customer concerns and comments and liaising with technicians
  • Liaising with customers about any additional work required
  • Writing service orders and descriptions of problems and repairs
  • Translating customers' repair problems into standard repair terminology
  • Explaining repairs to customers
  • Handling customer complaints
  • Tracking the vehicle through the workshop
  • Order and issue vehicle parts

As a Service Adviser you will need to demonstrate:

  • A professional manner
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • The ability to gather technical information and relay it in a way that customers will understand.

 This job offers OTE of £26,000.
